TAMPA, FL — Due to a Verizon outage, Verizon Wireless phone customers are currently not able to place 911 calls to emergency dispatch centers in much of Central Florida
Emergency dispatch centers in Pinellas, Hillsborough, Polk, Sarasota, Manatee and Pasco counties are fully operational, so if a Verizon Wireless customer has an emergency, the customer will need to find a land line or a cellphone that uses another wireless service.
If anyone needs to contact emergency services and is having difficulty getting through, call (727) 893-7762 in St. Petersburg, (727) 562-4242 in Clearwater, (727) 847-8102 in Pinellas County or (727) 847-8102 in Pasco County.
The phone problems have been going on for about an hour, and there is no estimate from Verizon when it will be repaired.
